Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 18 - 1272 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Baja California to Panama.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 66-77; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 62-76; Vertebrae: 51-58. Branchiostegal rays: 7 (Ref. 36399).
Biology:  Juveniles are often taken in or near scattering layer (Ref. 36399). Food habits change from feeding near the bottom to picking plankton from pelagic waters (Ref. 28023). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36399).
