Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 10 - 160 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: restricted to southern Australia. Often mistaken for Platycephalus richardsoni.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy bays and coastal waters (Ref. 9002). Benthic (Ref. 75154).
