Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic and Western Indian Ocean: South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-11. Body grey to brown in color, with white and brown spots on back; thin white bars on side; 3-6 elongate dark brown spots on midside; males with black spot on rear of 1st dorsal fin (Ref. 2798).
Biology:  An estuary sand dweller occurring in tidal parts of rivers (Ref. 4343).
