Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, widely distributed in the lake (Ref. 93886).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Medium-sized fish (Ref. 93886). Inhabits shallow sediment-rich habitats (Ref. 46829). Adults inhabit rubble areas in shallow water, often solitary (Ref. 6770). Feeds on biocover (Ref. 6770), which is picked from the rocks (Ref. 46829). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
