Distribution:  Asia: Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 5-7. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D2 I, 7; A I, 5-7, usually I, 6; pectoral-fin rays 15 or 16; longitudinal scales 24-26; transverse scales 8 or 9; predorsal scales 12-14; circumpeduncular scales 12; three anal pterygiophores before haemal spine of first caudal vertebra, head length 35.3-38.4% of SL; upper jaw length 14.7-20.0% of SL; predorsal length 43.4-46.0% of SL; pelvic fin base length 21.7-26.2% of SL; pelvic fin base width 4.2-6.3% of SL; suborbital papillae rows longitudinal; scales with distinct brown margins, forming reticular pattern; body lacking large bands and blotches; absence of distinct blackish shoulder blotch; dorsal and caudal fins finely barred (Ref. 137614).
