Family:  Alepocephalidae (Slickheads)
Max. size:  22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 500 - 1300 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Sagami Bay in Japan, East China Sea and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-21; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-19. Head and body compressed. Eye large, circular. Snout strongly curved, nearly vertical at the tip. Gill rakers well-developed. Scales absent from the body except fro modified ring-like lateral line scales.
