Distinguished from congeners in Ireland by having small to medium spots, whitish, on upper flank (sometimes on lower flank and caudal peduncle) and many small whitish spots on caudal and dorsal fins. Differs further by the combination of the following characters: body depth 25-30% SL; snout conical, lower jaw not included in upper one; pectoral length 0.7-0.9 times in distance from its origin to pelvic fin origin; and body dull grey, belly yellowish to orangish (Ref. 59043).
Biology:
Inhabits lake at depths of 10-30 m, except during spawning season. Feeds on Cladocera. Spawns in November in shallow rocky area (Ref. 59043).
