Max. size:  21 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Greece from Lake Stymphalia and Vouraikos drainage (Peloponnese); possibly in other drainages of northern Peloponnese.
Diagnosis:  Differs from its congeners in Balkan Peninsula by the following characters: head length 0.9-1.1 times body depth, 23-25% SL; upper lip not or very slightly projecting; lower jaw with well marked chin, not included in upper jaw; mouth terminal, eye diameter 22-25% HL; 41-44 + 2-3 scales on lateral line; dorsal fin with 8½ branched rays; anal fin usually with 9½ branched rays; distal margin of anal fin straight; distance between tips of first and last branched anal rays (with fin stretched out) greater than caudal peduncle depth (Ref. 59043).
Biology:  Inhabits lakes and streams with flowing, clear water. Feeds on various plants and animals. Maximum size reaches up to about 21 cm SL (Ref. 59043).
