Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range - 40 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Costa Rica to ParĂ¡, Brazil. Also reported in Nicaragua (Ref. 13613).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found over sandy mud bottoms in coastal waters, also present in river estuaries (Ref. 3702). Feeds on bottom-dwelling organisms (Ref. 3702). Mostly used in the manufacture of sub-products (Ref. 3702).
