Family:  Synodontidae (Lizardfishes), subfamily: Synodontinae
Max. size:  30 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 121 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Japan to Hawaii.
Diagnosis:  Fine barring on head. Body bands darken towards the tail (Ref. 48635).
Biology:  Lives in coastal reef flats (Ref. 48635) in sandy or rocky places. A carnivore which feeds on fish (Ref. 9137). Pelagic spawner (Ref. 35298). Benthic (Ref. 58302).
