Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 21-23. Dorsal and anal fin nearly opposite each other. Lower margin of maxillary not serrated, with slender conical teeth. Prevomerine teeth not deciduous, arranged in single series. Orbit small, its diameter much smaller than snout. Upper rays of pectoral fin filamentous. Vertebrae over 51. Reaches 37 cm SL.
