Max. size:  32 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 42 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Mexico to Peru, including the ocean islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A solitary species (Ref. 5227) found in reefs subjected to surges (Ref. 9311). Moves over great distances to feed on hard-shelled invertebrates (Ref. 9311).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 23 May 2007 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
