Found mainly in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Found in large rivers during the dry season and in floodplain streams and canals during the wet season. Does not persist in impoundments (Ref. 12693). Feeds on algae (Ref. 12975), phytoplankton (Ref. 12693), fish and crustaceans (Ref. 56749). |

Known from the Mekong basin (Ref. 12693, 43281). Most often seen in the Tonlé Sap from October through December as flood waters recede. Formerly common in the Tonlé Sap, but fishermen now report it as rare (Ref. 12693). Reported from Battembang (Ref. 36654). |
