Max. size:  99 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 13 kg
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Introduced into Peninsular India.
Biology:  Recorded as having been or being farmed in rice fields (Ref. 119549)..
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 March 2010 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Found in northern India from Punjab to West Bengal and Assam (Ref. 41236). Reported from Tripura (Ref. 97593).
