Max. size:  17 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 8; dH range: 9 - 20
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic slope, Panuco River drainage, and Soto La Marina River in Mexico.
Biology:  Occurs in both fast flowing rivers and still waters (Stawikowski & Werner, 1998).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 19 September 2018 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Widespread in the Rio Panuco and Rio Soto la Marina basins (Ref. 7335). Also Ref. 36377.
