Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
Max. size:  11 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong (Ref. 27732), Chao Phraya and Maeklong basins (Ref. 26336).
Diagnosis:  Has a relatively narrow midlateral stripe (width about 1-1.5 scale rows); a plain dorsal fin; a distinct black submarginal stripe along each caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 27732); with rostral barbels only; small mental disk, shorter than wide (Ref. 12693).
Biology:  Inhabits rocky bottoms in fast flowing water of all sizes of rivers and streams. Feeds on periphyton, phytoplankton and some insects (Ref. 12693).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in the Mekong River. Found in the lower Xe Bangfai (Ref. 27732) and in Ban Hang Khone, a village on an island in the middle of the mainstream Mekong River just below the Great Khone Waterfalls in Khong District, Champasak Province (Ref. 37767). Also Ref. 4792, 30857, 43281.
