Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7; dH range: 5 - 8
Distribution:  Asia: lower half of the Malayan/Thailand peninsula, Borneo, Java and Sumatra in Indonesia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Commonly collected from the lower surface of floating objects such as boats and floating houses (Ref. 56749). Feeds on worms, crustaceans, insects and plant matter (Ref. 7020). Aquarium keeping: solitary species, adults territorial; minimum aquarium size 100 cm (Ref. 51539).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Sumatra (Palembang, Lahat, Batang Hari, Kwantan R.), Borneo (Kapuas, Kahajan, Barito) (Ref. 2091), and Java (Ref. 28024). Found in the Kapuas Lakes Area in western Borneo, where it is very common, especially at the end of the wet season (April-May). Recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin of Borneo, Kalimantan Barat (Ref. 56749). Usually collected from the lower surface of floating objects such as boats and floating houses (Ref. 56749). Also Ref. 26580.
