Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, Sakhalin, Kuril Islands, Korean Peninsula to the South China Sea.

Biology:  Most highly prized of the Japanese flounders.

Country info:  Juveniles reported from Three Fathoms Cove (Ref. 125536). Sometimes enter estuaries, eventually rivers and streams. Reported from the Mui Wo stream in Lantau Island (Ref. 129476). Sold in live fish markets. Commonly consumed in Hong Kong (Ref. 125589).
