Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 8; dH range: 9 - 20
Distribution:  Central America: Atlantic slope, upper Tulija River in the Usumacinta River drainage, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A current-loving fish which prefers the montane habitat. Feeds upon aufwuchs and the encrusted invertebrates (mostly small crustaceans).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the upper reaches of the Usumacinta system in the Rio Misolha and Rio Shamula, the montane affluents of the Rio Tulija (Ref. 7335). Also Ref. 36377.
