Comments: Introduced in 1965 (Ref. 58867). Reintroduced in 1977. European strain introduced to the Nong Tong and Tha Ngone fish farms in Vientiane, Lao PDR by the Mekong Secretariat with funding from the government of The Netherlands. Known from the Mekong basin from above Pak Beng to the KhonĂ© Falls (Ref. 37772). Found in Ban Hang Khone, a village on an island in the middle of the mainstream Mekong River just below the Great Khone Waterfalls in Khong District, Champasak Province (Ref. 37767). Undertakes reproductive and trophic/dispersal upstream migration during the wet season in May-July through Hoo Som Yai at the Great Fault Line on the Mekong River, Champassack Province (Ref. 37771).
