Comments: Also introduced from Colombia. Reintroduced in 1977 and 1988. Introduced by religious sects in the Amazonia part of Bolivia in the 60s. Impact of the species in the ecosystem is unknown. No management existed. At present there are three programs for the culture and diffusion of this species, one with international support, insist on monosex culture to avoid propagation of this species in the Amazonian ecosystem of Bolivia. A UN program introduced in 1980/90 the species in the Yungas de la Paz region with a production of 10 TM for that period.     Ref:  FAO, 1997
