Comments: | Brought to Taiwan by Yu and Imai for culture and to cross-breed with O. aureus males which produces predominantly larger males. Fifty-six individuals were originally introduced. The Taiwanese government monitor as well as regulate the dissemination of the tilapias, and there are no reported adverse effects of their introduction at present. Ref: Liao, I.-C. and H.-C.
