Comments: The tilapia is caught as a food fish from the rivers in the island. It is now being encouraged in hotels and restaurants. Attempts are presently being made to introduce its red hybrid. Reintroduced from the US Virgin Is in 1986. Promoted as additive to animal feed to increase protein content. Propagated in earthen ponds ranging in size from a few hundred square meters to a few thousand (Ref. 26042).     Ref:  FAO, 1997
