Comments: | Pure stocks (400 individuals) were imported from Chang Mai, Thailand and reared in the hatchery of the Department of Fisheries at Jitra, Kedah which constituted the broodstock for all hatcheries up to the present. Widely cultured throughout the country (Ref. 6095). Considered invasive, their numbers growing rapidly and often displacing native species particularly in rivers and lakes (Ref. 84801).
