Comments: | Introduced from Indonesia via Vietnam. Widespread throughout southern part of China in polyculture with local carps in ponds. No longer considered suitable for aquaculture and is being replaced by O. niloticus, which was introduced in 1978. Recorded from the Yili river (Ref. 41093). Also Ref. 1739, 13364 and 55380.
