Comments: Over 5,000 eggs of 5 mm diameter. Embryos hatch after 11-15 days. The larvae are relatively inactive at first and are attached to the nest wall by their thoracic suckers. They begin airbreathing at a length of about 2.5 cm, while their external gills are still well developed. They remain in the nest for about 55 days by which time the yolk supply has been exhausted.
