Measure a maximum size of 47 mm TL. Caudals are bifurcated but not deeply forked as in adults. The dorsal spine is not yet serrated. Lateral lines are traceable. An adipose fin develops. One pair of maxillary barbels and two pairs of mandibular barbels develop. The maxillary barbels do not reach the pectoral base at this stage. Yolk-sac larvae transform directly to juvenile stage. Pigmentation: Dark pigmentation in the form of a blotch is present on each side laterally, at the upper portion of the yolk sac. |
