Etymology: Eubalichthys: Greek, eu = good + Greek, baleo, ballo = to throw + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335); caeruleoguttatus: Named for the blue spots on the head and body.

Two pairs of spines on each side of caudal peduncle. Pelvic bony structure very small, located about 1 eye diameter anterior to rear end of pelvis (Ref. 35708).
Lives on trawling grounds.
