Apparently planktophagic, with Drepanopus forcipatus (calanoid copepod) as its main food; has very low fecundity (only 71 maturing ova found as mean value); and has four parasites - two species of Acanthocepha (larvae of Corynosomia sp. And adults of Hypoechinorhyinchus sp.), one undetermined Trematoda and a larva of undetermined ectoparasitic copepod (Ref. 56210).
