Found mainly in the littoral zone, occurring exclusively over stone or sand. Spawns near shore at depths not exceeding 1.5 m, from the end of May to mid July. About 600 eggs are deposited under stones during spawning. Spent females move away to deeper waters (10-30m); males guard the eggs until the fry stage (Ref. 2058).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 1.0020   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00794 (0.00389 - 0.01621), b=3.12 (2.95 - 3.29), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.4 se; based on diet studies.
Generation time: 6.9 ( na - na) years. Estimated as median ln(3)/K based on 1 growth studies.
Widerstandsfähigkeit (Ref. 120179):  mittel, Verdopplung der Population dauert 1,4 - 4,4 Jahre. (Fec=600; K=0.16; tm=3).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
