Asia: granitic cave in Gunung Kajang, Tioman Island, Malaysia. Reportedly most related to Sundoreonectes obesus from east and south Kalimantan and Sarawak; no other loaches were found in the island.

Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 11; Rayons mous anaux: 8. With reduced, partly embedded eyes; almost round body, tapering posteriorly (Ref. 37830).
Cave-restricted species (Ref. 27297). A 4.89 cm SL female has ripe eggs (about 1.0 mm diameter) in its gonads (Ref. 37830).
