Etymology: Garra: Name based on a vernacular Indian name (Hamilton, 1822:343, Ref. 1813); a fish living in mud (Ref. 128817);  dembecha: The species name dembecha is in reference to the town near which the type series was collected (Ref. 58532).

Diagnosis: Garra dembecha is distinguished from African congeners by the following combination of features: weakly developed disc; predorsal region partially scaled anterior to dorsal fin; chest, belly, and postpelvic region asquamate; moderately elongate intestine; large gas bladder; and vent situated distant from anal fin (Ref. 58532).
Garra dembecha 在特徵的組合之後被與非洲同類區分藉由: 弱的發展體盤 , 前背的區域部份地覆有鱗片的位於背鰭，胸，腹面與 postpelvic 區域 asquamate 前, 中等細長的腸，大的氣鰾與排洩孔位於遠的從臀鰭.(參考文獻 58532) 身體相關的 gracile, 最大的體高位於在背鰭起點與吻之間的中途.(參考文獻 58532) 兩對的觸鬚 , 上頜骨觸鬚通常長度約與 rstral 對相同。 (參考文獻 58532) 背鰭有 iv-7 鰭條, 臀鰭有 iv-5 鰭條, 而且胸鰭有 iv-12 鰭條.(參考文獻 58532) 身體褐色背面, 些微顏色淡的褐色在側線下與腹地; 可變寬度的側面中央條紋的痕跡時常位於側面與尾柄之上。 (參考文獻 58532) 表示特性地發展良好的, 在第一個側線鱗片的區域中,小的黑色斑點呈現在鰓蓋正後方.(參考文獻 58532) 背鰭薄膜灰白的乳黃色的末梢部地, 有強的有顏色的, 寬的黑色靠近邊緣的條紋在鰭條 , 和狹窄的灰白乳黃色的條紋之間的薄膜中近端地; 或 4 或 5個細長的黑色斑點背面延伸在背鰭的基膜在鰭條之間, 時常進入基部的背鰭中的第三之內達到; 臀鰭均勻灰白乳脂色的褐色, 尾鰭灰白的暗褐色的, 與中央的鰭條顏色略深的褐色，腹鰭與胸鰭均勻灰白乳脂色的褐色.(參考文獻 58532)
