Etymology: Haploblepharus: haplos (Gr.), single or simple; blepharon (Gr.), eyelid, referring to simple structure of lower eyelid, which closes against upper eyelid to protect the eye. (See ETYFish); kistnasamyi: In honor of Nat Kistnasamy (b. 1938), Oceanographic Research Institute (Durban, South Africa), for “outstanding efforts and pioneering work” in the systematics and taxonomy of the chondrichthyan fauna of southern Africa.
