Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 58-62; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 46 - 50. This species is distinct with the following characters: frontal crest is smooth and not serrated; scales on abdomen; vertebral count 10 + 25-26; total vertebrae 35-36 (x = 35.1); longitudinal scale rows 48-63 (x = 54.3); compared to its congeners, it has the least ratio between pelvic-fin length and SL (0.041-0.076, x = 0.056), and between pelvic-fin length and head length (0.254-0.428, x = 0.332) (Ref. 75632).
