Kurzbeschreibung
Morphologie | Morphometrie
Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 12 - 16; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 10-12; Afterflossenstacheln 1; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 10 - 12. Adult of this species is distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: no pelvic frenum; pelvic fins separate for the entire length; presence of a black spot posteriorly on first dorsal fin, the spot usually between ninth and the ultimate spine; first dorsal fin (D1) is taller than second dorsal fin (D2); the interdorsal distance less than half the length of the first dorsal-fin spine; D1XI-XV; D2 I,10 - I,12; anal-fin elements I,10 - I,12; pectoral-fin rays 10-12; longitudinal scale rows 42-54; predorsal midline 14-19 (Ref. 111149).
Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Occurs in tide-dominated coastal system with relatively low wave action; also within the mangrove forest, it was found in a variety of microhabitat types in seaward and higher mangrove areas as well as within, and on sloping banks of tidal creeks. Found syntopic with congeners P. argentilineatus and P. malaccensis (Ref. 111149).
