Espinas dorsales (total): 16; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 8-9; Espinas anales 7; Radios blandos anales: 6 - 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D XVI,8-9; A VII,6-7; pectoral fin rays I,11-12; total gill rakers on the first branchial cleft 11-12; subopercular stain distinct although weakly intensified, this exposes sexual dimorphism that distinguishes it from others; females with a black blotch between the fifth and sixth dorsal spine (Ref. 117866).
