Found in the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049). In 2000, locally abundant in its restricted distribution range (Ref. 35754). Fishery 1989: species subject to commercial fishing (Ref. 79582). Threatened due to habitat destruction, pollution, and introductions of exotic predators (Ref. 79582). Also Ref. 6376, 26100, 32724.

Status of threat: Vulnerable (Ref. 119049).
