Extremely rare in the North Sea (Ref. 88716). Several immature individuals recorded from the southern North Sea during winter (Ref. 5967, 50200, 88785). Also recorded from Borkum Island and the Doggerbank (Ref. 88716).

Human activities in the German North and Baltic seas that might affect basking sharks: fisheries, tourism, shipping and boating (Ref. 88171).
