Occurs in rivers running into the Baltic, Barents and White Seas, eastward up to the Kara River (Ref. 26334). Landlocked populations known from Lakes Ladoga, Onega, some small lakes in Vyg and Kem drainages, White Sea basin (Ref. 59043). This has been translocated to areas within the country for stocking in open waters however, it failed to establish self-sustaining populations (Ref. 45022). Also Ref. 683. EurRus
