Known from the lowland areas of Mississippi River basin from Ohio to Minnesota and south to Louisiana, USA; Gulf drainages from Mobile Bay in Alabama to Brazos River in Texas (Ref. 86798). Generally common but less along periphery of range; absent in Minnesota and eastern Tennessee (Ref. 86798). Also Ref. 10294.
