Occurs throughout Canada (Ref. 86798). Rarely caught as a game fish (Ref. 52559). Used as animal food in fur ranches; production of fish meal and oil. The liver has been experimentally canned by the Fisheries Research Board; used for making canapes (Ref. 1998). Also Ref. 1371, 119194.
