Ranges from the Northwest Territories and British Columbia to Nova Scotia (Ref. 52559). Occurs in the Great Lakes (Ref. 119192). Sold fresh and frozen (Ref. 1998). Used as live bait for northern pike and muskellunge and cut bait for various fishes (Ref. 1998). A popular fish sold in live fish markets. Found in 1 out of 6 live fish markets near the Lakes Erie and Ontario (Ref. 53249). Also Ref. 5723, 9988, 119194.
