Known from the middle stretches of River Kuban where it is abundant but with a very restricted range (Ref. 59043). This has extended its range to several areas within the country where they have become locally established (Ref. 45022). Has become invasive in Don drainage, in River Egorlyk, which it entered through Nevinnomyssky canal. Population decline is suspected and expected to continue gradually due to on-going economic development (Ref. 59043).
