Endemic to Western Ghats (Ref. 50614). Known from the upstreams of Chalakudy River in Western Ghats, Kerala (Ref. 41236). Type locality, Chalakudy River, 26 km upstream of Chalakudy town, near Vettilappara, Kerala (Ref. 26282). Also Ref. 31807, 43640, 79567.

Status of threat: Critically endangered (Ref. 45212).
