Comments

Type locality of Abramis urmianus, Ocksa and Urmi rivers. Found

in southern and western tributaries of Urmia Lake (Ref. 124648).

Status of threat: Endangered B2ab(i,ii,iii,iv)c(i,ii,iii), because of many dam construction projects and recurrent drought during the last years, that most part of the rivers in Urmia Lake basin are partially or completely dried for the most part of the year which in turn has affected the populations of this species

dramatically. Currently known from Gedar Chay and Zarinerud River (with an area of occupancy less than 500 km2 ). In the middle and lower part of this river

no water is flowing out during summer and any further reductions of available water will lead to the extinction of this species (Ref. 124648).
