Type locality, W of North West Cape, Western Australia, CSIRO H 2550-10, (holotype of Sinobatis caerulea, 539 mm TL (332 mm DW), immature male). Distributed along the upper to mid continental slope of Western Australia from west of Dirk Hartog Island (25°41'S, 111°30'E) northwards to west of North West Cape (21°51'S, 113°41'E), in depths of 482-1168 m (Ref. 75174).
