Type locality, west of Mandurah, Western Australia, CSIRO H 2615-01 (holotype of Apristurus bucephalus, 67.5 cm TL, female). Collected off the mid continental slope off the south-west coast of Western Australia, from off Mandurah (32°33′ S, 114°25′ E) and south-west of Cape Leeuwin (35°02′ S, 114°46′ E), 920-1140 m depth (Ref. 76944).
