Known from the Anatolian Mediterranean Sea watersheds; Upper part of Seyhan River Basin (Ref. 106151). Threatened due to fishing, habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers, aquaculture/introduction/Lessepsian immigration and water abstraction. Proposed for Annexes II and IV of the EU Habitats Directive, as a priority species (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 3881.

Status of threat: Critically Endangered (Ref. 58342). "nEurTurk."
