A possible combination of increase in water temperature, trawling, together with the increased accessibility of the Mediterranean to Red Sea biota, due to the enlargement of the Suez Canal, constitute a kind of intermediate disturbance which has led to increased number of species in the eastern Mediterranean from the Indian Ocean (Ref. 93830). |
