Found in the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049). Occurs in Ruidera Lakes (Ref. 27858). Extirpated in Guadalquivir drainage (Ref. 59043). Endangered due to water pollution, habitat destruction and introduction of exotic fish predators (Ref. 79582). Fishery 1989: species subject to commercial fishing (Ref. 79582). Minimum capture size: 18-20 cm TL (Ref. 119049). Also Ref. 6376.

Status of threat: vulnerable (Ref. 79582, 119049).
